Dance Tempe, a Tempe Community Arts program, supports the development of high school dance students and teachers, as well as local dance artists by providing a platform to connect, inspire, share knowledge and present work on the main stage of Tempe Center for the Arts. This annual program has three components: the school residency, a full day convention and showcase performance.

Three local dance professionals (Spencer Dennis, Trinity Gracia and Evadney Saelens) were chosen through a panel selection process to fulfill residencies in all six Tempe Union High School District schools; Corona del Sol, Desert Vista, Marcos de Niza, McClintock, Mountain Pointe, and Tempe High. The residencies entail one full day of workshops to all dance classes, followed by weekly rehearsals with the advanced class throughout the Fall semester. The choreographic pieces created in these residencies culminate in a showcase performance which also features additional pieces by each high school dance program and performances by the resident artists’ professional companies.
