Law Day is an annual commemoration held on May 1st to celebrate the rule of law and cultivate a deeper understanding of the legal system. Every year since 2002, the Tempe Municipal Court has recognized Law Day by visiting schools throughout the valley and presenting an interactive program for students to participate. Each year, a theme chosen by the American Bar Association which is then presented by a City Judge from the Tempe Municipal Court.  The goal of the Judge and staff is to educate students on the Law Day theme and to teach them about the judicial process.  Each year the program includes an art contest that allows each student to draw, paint, sketch, or make a collage depicting the Law Day theme.  All submissions are showcased at the Tempe History Museum and judged to select winners, who are then invited to a city council meeting to have their photo taken with the City of Tempe Mayor.
