2026 City of Tempe Elections

The City of Tempe will hold elections for three seats on City Council in 2026. The Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, and the General Election, if necessary*, will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

*According to Tempe City Charter Sec. 7.01, if no more than six candidates file for the three City Council seats, the Primary Election may be dispensed with, and the General Election will occur on March 10, 2026.

Tempe residents interested in running for City Council must file a Statement of Interest with the City Clerk's Office before collecting nomination petition signatures. This statement indicates a candidate's intent to run for office and is a prerequisite for gathering the required signatures. Candidates must collect between 954 and 1,908 valid signatures from registered Tempe voters to qualify for the ballot.
