Thank you to all of the neighbors who provided input on the location and design of ramadas for Selleh Park! The feedback received showed support for two 20’ x 20’ picnic ramadas, one located near the playground area and one near the lakeside.

What’s next?

Turtle traps will be in use in preparation for the upcoming lake edge improvements. Please do not disturb them, the turtles will be returned after project completion.

Improvements for the park include:

  • Lake restoration and regrading
  • Lake edge and shoreline improvements and landscape
  • Ramadas
  • Irrigation improvements
  • Lighting upgrades
  • Trees

Park construction impacts:

  • Phase 1 January-March: The entire park will be closed without any access to the lake, restrooms, playground or basketball court to install new irrigation.
  • Phase 2 March-June: The lake, restrooms and most park paths will be closed. The playground and basketball court will be open.

The improvements are funded out of the city’s Capital Improvement Program budget, as part of the Parks Improvement Plan, which is reinvesting more than $60 million into Tempe parks over the next five years. Additional modifications or enhancements to other park amenities are not included in the budgeted amount.
