In 2023, the League of American Bicyclists re-designated Tempe a Gold-Level Bicycle Friendly Community. Because of the support from the Tempe City Council, Arizona State University, the community and non-profit organizations like the Tempe Bicycle Action Group, Tempe is one of the leading bike communities in the country with over 220 miles of bikeways.
